The FAO Code of Conduct calls on the industry to make sure that their products do not pose any potential risks to users. The Code recognises potential dangers associated with pesticide marketing not only regarding pesticide use but also in terms of advertising, labelling and packaging. Inappropriate or misleading advertising and barely understandable instructions for use can result in harm to users. Hence the pesticide industry is one of the key entities addressed by the Code of Conduct, and its articles call on this industry to contribute to pesticide risk reduction by addressing these problems, as can be seen below.
Problems arising from pesticide use are dealt with?
Pesticide industry should keep track of major uses and the occurrence of any problems arising from use of their products and should consider changes in labelling, directions for use, packaging, formulation or product availability.
